On 1st and 2nd of August 2017, on Alianz Arena FC Bayern Munich, Liverpool FC, Atletico Madrid and SSC Napoli played a football mini-tour Audi Cup. The matches were intense, with goals and different tactical approaches. Except the hosting team Bayern Munich, Champions of Bundesliga, the rest of the teams weren’t title holders but still represents strong European championships: Premier League, La Liga and Serie A. Carlo Ancelotti’s team in this preseason was far from perfection winning only twice in 9 games and it seemed that integrating new players in the weakened squad due Confederation Cup in Russia 2018 brought its negative effects. From another side Liverpool had only victories during their preseason, displaying an attractive play with nice sparks of mastery from their new arrived Mohamed Salah or Dominic Soalnke. SSC Napoli made a good impression on the tour against Atletico Madrid and Bayern Munich. Diego Simione’s players proved once again why their side is considered among the best in Champions League, getting a clinical victory over Liverpool FC with 100% accuracy on the penalty shoot-out, getting Audi Cup 2017 to Madrid.

Atletico Madrid 2-1 SSC Napoli
The first game of the night between La Liga, Atletico Madrid and Serie A, SSC Napoli was a wonderful set up for the next game following soon after between FC Bayern Munich and Liverpool FC. All of the drama of the game started with a missed penalty of SSC Napoli, Arkadiusz Milik in the first half of the game. After the break the players of Maurizio Sarri went ahead after the goal of José Callejón on 56th minute. Eighteen minutes before the final whistle Atletico Madrid equalized through Fernando Torres and nine minute later the youngster returned from loan to Sevilla, Luciano Vietto drag his name on the score sheet, bringing victory for his team. Late come back and hard fought victory took Atletico Madrid into final to meet the winner between FC Bayern Munich and Liverpool FC.

Bayern Munich FC 0-3 Liverpool FC
It was a game of contrast on the pitch and on the stand. The host endured a less successful preseason friendlies, when Liverpool FC won all the games until the meeting with FC Bayern Munich. This games was similar with the game played a year ago when the players of Jurgen Klop dispatched Barcelona of Jose Enrique 4-0 despite the avalanche of start in blue-red shirts: Luis Suarez, Neymar, Lionel Messi, Andres Iniesta and others. The game seemed to be a hard one for visiting team but on the 6th minute Sadio Mane opened the score for the scousers. Before the end of the half time Liverpool went ahead 2-0 after a well finished ball from Mohamed Salah. It was clear the delight of Liverpools FC travelling supporters opposite to anger and frustration of Bayern Munich’s fans. Hosting team dominated the ball possession, but missed the accuracy and precision to score. Their opponents brought the game to the end just minute after introduction of Daniel Sturidge, who made a wonderful lob over Bavarian keeper. Liverpool FC went to play final with Atletico Madrid, FC Bayern Munich and SSC Napoli were preparing to fight for the third place the next day.

Bayern Munich FC 0-2 SSC Napoli
Having an important game on Saturday against Borussia Dortmund, Carlo Ancelotti introduced in the starting squad promising youngsters, giving them opportunity to gain game experience and learn to play under pressure. Over the game host were dominating again ball possession but it didn’t help them to capitalize on it. SSC Napoli played with a similar team that lost in the first game against Atletico Madrid 1-2 and this decision proved to be a good one after all. Italian side got a well fought victory after the goals from Kalidou Koulibaly(14′) and Emanuele Giaccherini(55′). Maurizio Sarri’s team left a good impression in Germany and went to Italy for the last preparations before the start of the new domestic championship.

Liverpool FC (4)1-1(5) Atletico Madrid FC
The final of the tournament had left the best for the end. Atletico Madrid and Liverpool FC produced a spectacular display on the pitch with important occasions, saves and eye-catching combination of the ball. Jurgen Klop’s players had the first occasion to open the score, but Dominic Solake’s header missed the goal. Atletico Madrid went ahead after magnificent save of Dany Word after the attempt of Angel Correa, deflected ball arrived seconds later to Keidi Bare, who put his team ahead 1-0(33′). It was looking that the game is over and the Spanish team we’re ready to grab the trophy to Madrid: But On 83rd minute after a fault in the box, Roberto Firminho equalized with a well taken penalty. Both sides missed to take the lead in the normal time and game went to be decided on penalties. Diego Simeone’s players got 5 out of 5 on the shoot out and the only missed penalty of Liverpool FC captain, Jordan Henderson proved to be enough for Atletico Madrid to seal the victory.
