LALIGA SANTANDER 2018-2019 WEEK 3: HIGHLIGHTS, RESULTS, COMMENTS AND LEAGUE TABLE

Week 3 in Spanish LaLiga Santander 2018-2019 was quite a busy on with lot of goals and a few surprises as usual it happens in football. The transition of Real Madrid so far looks very well getting three wins out of three games same as their rival Barcelona. The major difference though is that Messi still scoring a lot of goals and the place on the score sheet was taken by Karim Benzema and Gareth Bale. From my humble point of view Lapotegui is changing the strategy and tactics of the team he inherited and in this condition ladies and gentlemen we’re assisting to the resurrection of the striker Karim Benzema, that in the last couple of year became more of an assistant than a finisher in front of the box due the incredible form and impact that Cristiano Ronaldo was creating on the pitch and in the team. Well, Portuguese left and Los Blancos continue their brilliant start of the campaign. Sevilla and Ateltico Madrid got beaten this week and Valencia got only a draw in their derby with Levante.

Atletico Madrid didn’t start so well the current campaign of LaLiga 18/19 getting in the first two games a draw and a win. Celta Vido finished down by the middle of the table and didn’t qualify even for the international cups, though Iago Aspas the International Spanish striker, that played well in Russia this summer had quite a good campaign last year and scored for Vigo 23 goals in 35 matches. Maximiliano Gómez González opened the score for the host just a minute after the beginning of the second half and Iago Aspas doubled the score on 52nd minute. On 70th minute Stefan Savić got second yellow card leaving Atletico Madrid in 10 men, though the consolation or remontanda didn’t follow for Diego Simeone’s team that end up week 3 on 10th with 4 points in three matches.

On the best part about assigning Lapotegui at Real Madrid is that, the Spanish manager use to work in the national team under 18 and under 20 with majority players that are upcoming starts on Bernabeu, Carvajal, Asesio, Isco and more. Once the accent of the team got more balance there are plenty of opportunity to show that they deserve a chance and without Ronaldo they can still give a serious fight to Barcelona or Atletico for the title. In Week 3 of LaLiga Santander Real Madrid won 4-1 at home Leganes. It is not too long ago when visitors delivered a surprise and defeated the Zinedine Zidane’s team last season, this time revenge arrived. Gareth Bale unofficially the main star of the team opened the score on 17th minute. Seven minutes later Leganes equalized after a penalty taken by Guido Carrillo(pen.24′). In the second half Karim Benzema got a double(48′, 61′) and captain of Los Blancos made the final score on 66th minute after finishing from the penalty spot. Great start of the campaign with three wins in three matches.

The big night in Valencia this weekend held the local derby between Levante and Valencia known as Derby del Turia. Levante was hosting the match and started my better than their neighbors getting an early lead on 13th minute through Roger Martí. Russian winger that joined Valencia this summer Denis Cherishev equalized after just three minutes. Playing at home Levante got more threat in the attacking movements and the the double of Roger Marti arrived on the 33rd minute. Valencia rescued a point on Ciutat de Valencia stadium after Daniel Parejo equalized on 52nd minute after a penalty.

Barcelona had prepared the most interesting match of the week against new promoted Huesca in a thriller/horror match with 10 goals in which host imposed themselves 8-2. After geting a draw and a win the first two matches Huesc started tbold the match on Camp Nou and o third minute Cucho Hernández opened the score. Lionel Messi equalized 13 minute later and own goal of Jorge Pulido put the hosts ahead 2-1 on 24th minute. Luis Suarez got his name on the score sheet on 39th minute and Alejandro Gallar Falguera reduced the deficit for Huesca to 2-3 on 42nd minute and at the half time Barcelona had a minimal advantage 3-2. In the second half it was clear that the visitors got tired and the class of host paid it’s role as another four goals arrived in the net of Huesca. Ousmane Dembélé made it 4-2 on 48th minute, then Ivan Rakitic 5-2 (52′), Messi 6-2 (61′), Jordi ALba 7-2 (81) and extra time Luis Suarez got his second time from the penalty spot, end of the match on Camp Nou, Barcelona 8 Huesca 2.

Another local derby this weekend was in Sevilla, where Sevilla FC was playing away at Benito Villamarin against Real Betis Balompie. The 3 time winners of Europa League Cup felt short on their trip in the neighborhood as the captain and the lengent of Betis, Joaquin scored the winner on 80th minutes and send the local fans in the agony of haplessness. Betis 1 Sevilla 0.
