It seemed a mission impossible for me in the beginning of the season that I will writhe a review about each and every single round of Premier League and beside this I was covering other moestich championships as well LaLiga, Ligue 1, Serie A and Bundesliga so finally this is it last round of Premier League season 2017/18 week 38.
Arsenal this year had the worse statistics in the away games and didn’t manage to win a single point in away games until the last match at Huddersfield Town. Europa League cup is gone as well as the fourth place on the table so the only motivation to get the winner was at least securing some European football, Europa League and a good farewell for Arsene Wenger that was his last match as a Arsenal manager, after 22 yeras of working together Frenchman is leaving gunners. Broking the negative statistic of the away games in this second part of the season was possible thank to the goal of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from 38th minute.
In order to secure Champions League games next season Liverpool had to win the home game against Brighton and Hove Albion and to secure the fourth spot on the league table. Mohamed Salah scored his 32nd goal of the season in Premier League and put his team ahead on 26th minute. Dejan Lovren, Croatian defender and good friend of Egyptian revelation of the season doubled the score on 40th minute with a good taken header. Dominic Solanke used his chance to impress as good as he could and get his name on the scoreline on 53rd minute. Another revelation of the season was Liverpool left back Scottish-man Andy Roberston, that is considered on of the best left back of the league and in this particular game he got a goal for himself on 85th minute o the match.
Marcus Rashford was again the hero for Manchester United, after the double of the promising English talent scored a double against Liverpool that gain for his team an important three point, this week he scored the only goal of the match on 34th minute and with this result Manchester United finished on second position with 81 point, 19 behind their neighbors Mancherster City and third place Tottenham Hotspur with 4 point ahead of Pochetino’s team.
Chelsea continued to fight for this spot in Champions League and fourth place away at Newcastle United on St. James Park, but for Liverpool manager delivered an unpleasent surprise for the visitors beating them 3-0. Dwight Gayle opened the score on 23rd minute and then a double from Ayoze Pérez(59′, 63′) put the last nails in the coffin of Champions League dreams of Chelsea for the next season. Last game of the season though for Antonio Conti remaining FA Cup final against Manchester United and the last hope to save a largely disappointing campaign for blues.
Manchester City got an late winner away at Southampton. Is not the first time that Citizen are pushing for a winner in the last minutes it happened many times this season and the quality of the squad, players, reserves and coach all together got a incredible chemistry that states that the league had a new dominat force in the years to come. Until then, Gabriel Jesus was the hero of the day scoring the last goal of the season helping his team to seal another record for Premier League, hit team finished 19 points ahead of second place and got a 100 points in a single campaign, the rest of the record set by Manchester City you can find the on their official site.
The post interesting and entertaining game of the week was by far the 5-4 win of Tottenham Hotspur over Leicester City. Visitors started very well the game and Jamie Vardy put them ahead on 4th minute. Host equalized with Harry Kane just three minutes later. Riyad Mahrez put Leicester City in front again on 16th minute and Kelechi Iheanacho made it on 47th minute 3-1 for Leicester City. Erick Lamela got one goal back on 49th minute and an own goal of Christian Fuchs draw the score 3-3 on 53rd minute. Erick Lamela put Spurs in front on 70th minute but Jamie Vary equalized on 73rd. The winner of the game came from the top scored of the Premier League second after Mohamed Salah, Harry Kane and his 30th goal of the campaign on 76th minute the fifth for Tottenham.
