Believe it or not but the season is almost over in Serie A Tim 2017/18. Juventus continued the hegemony in Italy despite the fight they’ve got from SSC Napoli of Maurizzio Sarri. In the last game of the season all the Juventus fans gathered at Allianz Stadium and on the streets of Torino to give their farewell and pay the respect to retiring legendary Italian goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon. Despite the festive atmosphere of the match Daniele Rugani put Juventus ahead 1-0 on 49th minute against Hellas Verona. Miralem Pjanić double the lead on 52nd minute and visitors replayed with the goal of Alessio Cerci on 76th minute. Stephan Lichtsteiner had the chance to finish the game on 85th minute when his team got a penalty, but he missed it. Anyhow our best wishes to Gianluigi Buffon and many thanks for his unbelievable career and achievements and withing him all the best luck in his new endeavors.
AC Milan played this last game of the season home against Fiorentina and as their coach got the vote of confidence from the board is was clear that the players on the field should deliver in order to prove that Gernaro Gattuso is the right man to lead the team. Fiorentina started better the match and on 20th minute Giovanni Simeone put visitors ahead. As it was clear latter this was just the silence before the storm as Hakan Çalhanoğlu equalized on 23rd minute, Patrick Cutrone doubled the score jut before the end of the first time on 41st minute. Well played first half continued with a even better second time as Rossonieri scored three more times(Nikola Kalinić-49′, Patrick Cutrone-59′, Giacomo Bonaventura-76′).
Despite the fact that Juventus made a draw last round and win this week the match with Hellas Verona, the war was lost for SSC Napoli for this year. In the last match day of the season Maurizzio Sarri’s players delivered a nice performance on San Paolo stadium in Naples in front of 51382 spectators and scored twice in the first time through Arkadiusz Milik(23′) and José María Callejón Bueno(32′). Marco Tumminello scored the only goal of Crotone in the extra time. Even SSC Napoli finished on the second position this season it was a nice campaign and for many supporters it will be remembered as the year when Napoli almost made it.
One of the most interesting matches of week 38 of Serie A Tim 2017/18 was Lazio against Inter, the prize of the win was Champions League spot next season. Lazio started better and on 9th minute they forced and own goal from Ivan Perisic. Lazio was in charge and was controlling the game up to 75th minute when Simone Inzaghi made a classic managerial mistake removing a striker Cirro Immobile and bringing in a defender Jordan Lukaku. Just three minutes after the substitution Mauro Icardi equalized from the penalty spot(78′) and on 81st minute Matías Vecino put Inter ahead 3-2 and with this score they finished on 4th position of the table of Serie A Tim, that means a Champions League football for Luciano Spalletti’s team next football year.
