LALIGA SANTANDER 2018-2019 WEEK 5: HIGHLIGHTS, RESULTS, COMMENTS AND LEAGUE TABLE

Between 21 and 23 of September 2018 were played the matches of 5th round of LaLiga Santander 2018-19 and it was normal that the grands of the Spanish football should’ve make all in their power to fix the shaky results that they might have in the previous weeks and slowly slowly create the gap to other contenders for the Champions Crown. Barcelona that won all four games in the begging of the campaign 2018-2019 had played on Camp Nou against Girona. Visitors that promoted last year in LaLiga from Secunda delivered a nice appearance and managed to stay in the top fight of Spanish football. As it was expected the host started the assault on the goal of Girona from the first minutes of the game and on 19th minute Lionel Messi opened the score. Visitors had already made a statement that they are very dangerous in the set pieces and Cristhian Stuani scored two goals to equalize and then to put his team ahead(45′, 51′). Gerard Pique scored on 63rd minute leveling the teams on the score sheet but despite their pressure and occasions Barcelona failed to keep their winning line and lost their first two points at home in a match with an overage opponent. In derbies against Sevilla, Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid or Valencia, Ernesto Valverde gonna fix the hole from defense if they really want to retain the title in Spain.

In football every player and team must be focused 120% each match, each episode on order not to give the opponent the chance to outplay them and still the victory. This being said we have here Atletico Madrid that draw 1-1 at home with Eibar and was traveling this week to Getafe that won away at Sevilla 2-0. Diego Simeone’s team had approached the match with an aggressive attacking style that paid back and secured them a win after a double of the French winger Thomas Lemar that scored a goal in each of the times(14′, 60′).

Estadio Santiago Bernabéu is a shrine for all those passionate about football because on this pitch had played and are still playing one of the greatest players in the history. From this stand point all people that are going to he matches of Real Madrid on a regular basis get used to see a lot of goals and most important the show of combinations, passes, dribbling and acrobatic display from their favorite team. Times are changing and most important the team is starting a new reign under Lapotegui. In week 5 of LaLiga Santander, Real Madrid had imposed themselves in front of RCD Espanyol with a minimal advantage 1-0 after the goal of Isco on 41st minute. Win is a win but for that particular part of supporters that were angry and upset by the display of their favorite team need to be done a reminder of the changes that are done and the rejuvenation of the team that is  painful step but the necessary one to keep Real Madrid on the top of European and World Football.

One of the most interesting matches this weekend was in Valencia where Levante played Sevilla at Estadio Ciutat de València. It was a very dynamic game with 8 goals, two for the hosting team: Roger 12′, Moses Daddy Simon 90′ and six for visitors: Ben Yedder 11′, 35′, 45′, Carriço 21′, André Silva 49′, Sarabia 59.

Another week another goalless draw from Valencia, this time the away match against Villarreal ended 0-0 was more or less acceptable than a defeat but for all their fans and the rest of the people that are following LaLiga, the current performance of the bats looks like a thin ghost comparing with the squad that was winning games in raw in previous campaign.

After matchday 5 in LaLiga Barcelona and Real Madrid stays on first and second with 13 points each, Atletico Madrid climbed on 5th with 8 points, Sevilla on 7th with 7 points and Valencia after a second 0-0 draw ended this weekend on 15th with 5 point after first five games.
